weigh-in [ww lock]

Despite Tuesday’s encouraging weigh-in, I’m only down 1.5 pounds today, the official weigh-in day. This isn’t really discouraging, except it would’ve been more fun to put 157 into the weight tracker instead of 158. Still, y’know, if I could manage a pound a week for the rest of the year, gosh, that’d put me at my weight goal. Well, almost, I guess there’s not quite enough weeks left in the year to manage it entirely. Close enough.

The leisure centre (gym) here has opened, so when Ted goes to work today I’m going into Cobh with him and trundling up the hill to find out when adult swim is, and to check out the facilities. I’m hoping they’ll have yoga or pilates classes at some point, though another new gym that’s opening this weekend will have pilates, anyway, so I may have to swim one place and take that sort of class at another. We’ll see. Either way, I’m really looking forward to starting to exercise.

  1. Woot!

I said to Raven after skating on Tuesday, “Y’know, I’m surprised more hockey players don’t do Pilates.” And suddenly got fired up to do some myself. Well. Okay, maybe not ‘fired’. Maybe just warmed to the idea. Maybe I’ll add that in when I’m feeling bored by the Curves and the walking and the skating.

Not that it *really* needs to be said, but hope you talk about it if you do it. :)

  2. Deirdre (my sister) says a Pilates class would be *really* good for my back. The new leisure centre seems to have Pilates classes, but I can’t figure out when. I’ll have to talk to them tomorrow, and if it’s not a regular thing maybe I’ll look at that other gym. Be nicer to only have to join one! And I’ll talk about it, if I take classes! :)

I’m all envious of your skating. It sounds like fun!

  3. Yeah, I actually started a pilates class, geez, 4 years ago or so, hoping to help my lower back. Then I suffered a muscle spasm mid-back and that was the end of the class. :P

I really, really, really would like to actually do it for a while, because, yeah, strengthening my back and abs is one thing I want to do.

The skating *is* fun. :) For now. Now, it is all new and shiny and oooo. I hope it will continue to be fun for me. And pilates would probably help that, given how much work is done by the core muscles (abs and back are used to stay upright, the power of skating comes from the glutes, quads, hamstrings, abductors and adductors).

    Babble babblity babble. :)
