not dead

the essential kit

I’m making up for four posts on Monday by not making any more posts the rest of this week, I guess.

We’re not yet fully unpacked. I have faint, tired hopes of finishing this weekend. We’ll see. We did get the clothesline up, so I’ve been taking advantage of the major solar spill we’re experiencing to dry clothes outside. And I did wash the mattress pad, which had been on my list of thinks to do a couple of weeks ago. So that’s something.

I also–through the good graces of my mother and husband–turned in a grant application an entire NINETY MINUTES before it was due yesterday. For the climate change trilogy, the first book of which has acquired the tentative title of COLLAPSE, at least inside my head. I’ve got another app to finish up, and then I’m going to be pleading with all of you to go vote for it daily because there’s a popularity contest aspect to that one.

The weather has been amazing, and we’ve been out in it a lot, which is part of why I haven’t been posting. I’m developing a nice tan, although of course my base color is fish-belly white, so you can’t really tell I’ve tanned at all unless you compare the parts exposed to the sun to parts that aren’t. :)

(“Take your hand of your mouth,” I just said to my son. “It’s not!” he said. “It’s a FINGER!”

“That’s called rules lawyering,” I said to him. :))

  1. You can count on me to vote. You’ll also be pleased to know that my signed copy of Baba Yaga’s Daughter arrived today from Subterranean Press. I received book number 787. Isn’t that a fabulous number? :-)
