Three for three, even, when one adds into account the creative writing class I attended today to talk about Being A Working Writer. There were four of us in total there: me, I.C. Esslemont, the new Dean of the College of Liberal Arts at the university, Johnny Payne, and the professor, Gerri Brightwell. The students had a lot of good questions (no “where do you get your ideas?” :)) and we had a terrific time talking about the realities of writing. Later Gerri said they were equal parts thrilled and…

great success!
The Fairbanks B&N book signing went very well! Saw a couple people I knew and far more I didn’t, and many of them bought books. :) A lot of people stopped to talk, which almost never happens at a book signing (the fresh homemade chocolate chip cookies may have helped :)), and I think we all had a lot of fun. Next public appearance is at the UAF bookstore from 2:30-4pm on Tuesday! Awesome (if I do say so myself) picture of me with some readers at NYCC! eta: um,…
yes, yes…
…that was in fact a catastrophic hard drive failure. I brought it in, the lads at Geek City said “Oh dear, that’s not a virus, that error message means your hard drive has just gone bad, might as well buy a new one because it’ll cost as much to fix it to get a new one.” Thank God for Dropbox. o.O Turns out Fairbanks is not a great place to buy a new netbook, though. Which is mildly inconvenient, since I’d been planning to, y’know, work this week. But I’ll…
dissolving day

I checked email (or at lest Twitter) this morning and in the course of doing so experienced a catastrophic hard drive failure on my netboo from which I have not yet been able to recover. This would be vastly more upsetting if I didn’t have a pretty up-to-date Dropbox backup and a reasonable amount of confidence that I haven’t lost anything irreplaceable. Let’s hear it for off-site storage. o.O Now I’m blogging from Ted’s Asus tablet, which I am…
a blog post!
Probably a blog post of tiny proportion, because it is dependent on how long Young Indiana naps, but I’m going to make a try for it! :) NYCC and its surrounds were terrific. I met a lot of readers (and missed a few, which is absolutely tragic, and if you were there and I missed you I’m terribly sorry). Among some of the highlights were my honest-to-God first fan ever, someone who read the teaser chapter for URBAN SHAMAN off Jim Butcher’s website before the book was even out, and…
