weigh-in [ww lock]

I need a different scale. This one won’t zero out quite properly–it tends to wobble around the 2 pound mark–and it does its measurements in stones (14 pounds) and 2 pound increments between the stones, so between those two things it’s freaking hard to tell what my actual weight is. Unsurprisingly, given that this has been the Week Of Flourless Chocolate Cake, my weight is up a little. I cannot, however, really tell if I’m up .5 pounds or 1.5 pounds. I genuinely think it’s the former, but … I…

comic books

At some point here I’m going to talk about the fascinating (to me, anyway) collaborative process of creating a comic book. I’m also going to talk about real life comic book physics, or at least stuff that makes me think of them that way. Apparently, however, I’m not going to do that now. I couldn’t figure out why I was so *tired*, until I remembered that I walked 6 miles today. I trekked down to the bank to try this whole wiring thing again. We’ll see how it goes, won’t…

Wow.

I was right. Livejournal *does* contain All Knowledge. I’m never doing research again…! You have all been incredibly, insanely helpful. Some of this stuff I couldn’t look up myself because I just didn’t have the right words to make Google come up with what I needed; you have given me the right words (say your right words!). The passionate responses over the pens have delighted me–I should’ve anticipated that. The character in question who is buying the pens is the sort who gives people soul-corrupting gifts, just to see if…

*exhales*

Apparently within the US, the SWIFT code is something for outgoing wire transfers. A friend of mine who works for the bank in question seems to have gotten it all figured out, and I am assured that with the data I have in hand it will work, so long as the bank here is willing to actually try it. Which they have indicated they are. So I will try again tomorrow. In the meantime, I seek the Knowledge of Livejournal for some book research questions. and , I beseech you…

for crying out loud

AIB insists there must be a SORT or SWIFT code for my bank in Alaska. My bank in Alaska insists it has no such thing. AIB says they SUPPOSE I can try to send money using the routing code that FNBA provided, but they don’t think it’ll work and that they can’t possibly see how the bank can’t have the codes AIB says it should. I believe that on Thursday, when Ted has the day off, we will go talk to the other banks and find out if they, too,…
