Yesterday’s thinks list was very effective. I may have to start posting these every morning, just for my own clarity of mind. Possibly I should lock them up so nobody else has to read them, but that might diffuse their effectiveness. thinks to do today: 1. finish PL revisions 2. take myself on a walk to the store for some lotion Other thinks that would also be good include more laundry, cleaning the kitchen, and not eating too much junk food. These, one imagines, become perennial on such a list,…

not bad.
I got more than halfway through the ms. Probably not 60%, definitely not 75%, but more than halfway, which is acceptable. There’s a thing I need to go back and change, but it won’t cause too many shock waves. I think. I hope. Anyway. Still got more than 50% of it done, shockwaves or not. Also walked to the post office, cleaned the kitchen (mostly) and did (some) laundry. Not bad at all. Go me. I decided earlier today that when the graham crackers I’ve got are gone I wanted…
thinks to do
thinks to do today: 1. get PL revisions at least 75% done 2. walk down & return the movie pretty much nothing else matters, though cleaning the kitchen and doing laundry wouldn’t be bad ideas. nor would exerting enough will to not eat any junk food. picoreview of cinderella man: startlingly good movie, if difficult for me to watch because i don’t like watching people hit each other. amazingly, russell crowe didn’t show up anywhere in it. picoreview of bonnie & clyde: at least i don’t have to watch *that*…
I do wish…
I wish that when I’m badly stalled out doing revisions (or writing, for that matter) and playing game after game of solitaire, that I would consistently remember that even if I don’t think I need to, what I really do need to do at that stage is print out the book and have a hard copy to go over. It can take me weeks to figure this out, which is really annoying, because I do it EVERY time, so you’d think I’d know better. :P I’m improving: mostly these days…
fairy tales in film
I was thinking about Ever After, and how very nicely I thought that movie worked as a not-quite-fairy tale. All the elements were in place, and in fact I didn’t notice the magic was missing, except on a meta level. Because Beauty and the Beast is my very favorite fairy tale, I’ve been trying to figure out how you could make that story work without the magic. Turn it into a ‘real’ fairy tale, like Ever After. It’s *not easy* to do to my satisfaction. The reason the BatB tv…
