Also, cats: 0; Kit: 2
After yesterday’s eye-mooshing allergy fit (my eye is much better today), this morning was spent in a cleaning fit. Everything has been vacuumed within an inch of its life, including the cats, at least metaphorically. I have washed them. They are not at all happy about this, but at least I was nice enough to lock them in a room with the heat turned all the way up after subjecting them first to the indignity of a shower and then the blowdryer. There was yowling involved. (Most of it was the cats’.) Sadly, I didn’t think to take pictures of the poor beleaguered cats until after the fact, so there are no Miserable Wet Bobtail Photos. They look very sleek and fluffy and shiny now, though. :)
Also after yesterday’s eye-mooshing allergy fit and the subsequent freaking myself right the fuck out, thanks, I am freshly goddamned resolved to lose weight, because my allergies are directly related to my weight. My downfall is sweets. I have got to just simply stop eating them, which has worked in the past and is both profoundly simple and extremely difficult to do. Once I get past the first three days, and then the 10th-12th days, I’m okay. (How very addict-like, eh?) But I *like* sweets, and it’s so easy and tasty to say “Oh well this one piece of apple tart will be my EXCEPTION.” It never is.
You may expect a lot of teeth-gritting and complaining and pleas for backbone-stiffening encouragement over the next days. If you’re lucky, I’ll put it under a cut tag.
Apparently Zilli and Lucy have forgiven me, because they are now both schlucked up to my thigh, presumably bleeding off body heat. Lucy has in fact climbed on top of Zilli, so she is warm both below and to her left. And my thigh is growing very slightly damp, because they are 98% dry, but still have just that touch of wet to them. Maybe it’s revenge.
There are things to do starting up in Longford! For once, a non-work-related Thinks list:
– Longford Writers’ group, Sept 17
– Spanish classes, starting Sept 24
– yoga classes, Sept 23, 25, 30
– set dance classes, starting Sept 25
– art classes, which conflict directly with yoga, starting Sept 23
– Banjo festival weekend, 27th & 28th
And the more typical work Thinks:
– finish “Caretaker”
– write Walker Papers short story
…that’ll do, for this week.
