My Google Fu is failing me. Perhaps one of you can help.
My mom is looking for a poem which contains the lines:
I have dishes to do and beds to make
I should not sit and watch the red sun set……And yet, supposing that I go at duty’s call
To make the beds, what then?
These things have no great value after all.
Tomorrow they must all be done again.
She’s looking for the author and the rest of the poem. Anybody with Mighty Fu want to try scaring it up?
My Fu is sucking too. (But *I* appear to be a poet. Ahem.)
It sounded as if it were from “The Housewife’s Lament” (http://ingeb.org/songs/olifeisa.html)
But in looking at the text again, tisn’t so.
The number one hit on metacrawler for a search on
the second line is mizkit.com. :)
I suspected that would happen in very short order, yeah. Wretched net. :)
I wasn’t able to find it, but you might try asking someone on a poetry search site, like here.
