on the way home

We’re in the Atlanta airport until about 8:45 tonight. The Atlanta airport has currently won a place in my heart by allowing us to go from one terminal to another without having to go through security again. Also for having places to plug in laptops, and for having wifi, though it would be for the total win if it were free wifi. Still, you take what you can get.

I paused to look longingly over noise-reducing ear bud earphones, which cost quite a bit. So did the over-the-ears ones I’ve got, but the earbuds cost more, and I can’t quite justify buying them. At least not the really expensive ones, which I presume are more worth the money than the less expensive ones. If that makes sense. Or even if it doesn’t. :) Anyway, the foam cover on one of my earpieces on my not-noise-reducing earphones has ripped, so I should at least go find a cover before we leave here. My, how random I am.

We had an extremely nice visit with Ted’s grandma and aunt, and made an attempt to find Shaun at Powells, but it turned out we were at the wrong store. (We went to the main one, and he doesn’t work there.) However, I did sign all the copies of my books that they had, and they obligingly turned them face out with prominent “autographed” stickers on them. A Borders we went to later did the same thing. :)

Arright, this is nothing like writing, so I’m going to go to work, since I’ve got hours here at the airport, and a power source. *scoots*

  1. Well, hi then! Probably can’t see me waving from a couple miles away ;) I hope your visit to Our Fair City is both pleasant and brief. Hartsfield’s pretty nice, but you wouldn’t want to sleep there.

  2. I will be in Atlanta tomorrow…so close…I would have loved a chance to meet you. I have family that lives just outside of the city…about 15 minutes from Six Flags theme park.

  3. One of the few things I miss about Atlanta is the airport. I wish Regan was as well thought out. (Or at least less haphazard!)

  4. Before spending money on more expensive earphones, I’d really want to be sure I got on with them. The ones I have go over the ear (B&O A8s, for the record). I’ve never got on with ones that sit in the ear – they feel horribly prone to dislodge. On the other hand, the only way of blocking noise out would have to be to sit in the ear canal, and my current ones don’t do that.

  5. I can recommend the JVC Marshmallow headphones – great at reducing ambient noise, and very comfortable. Surprisingly, excellent value too. They retail about $19.95. I blogged about them recently because I was so delighted with them.

  6. I still have trouble remembering it’s not just ‘National’ any more. But we usually fly into Dulles when we go back to visit my folks.

…it is still called Dulles, isn’t it? Maybe I should go home more often :)

  7. Shaun works at Powells?? /Our/ Powells?? Or is there one in GA? What?? We keep wondering what he’s up to. Well, now I know. More or less. ;)

  8. That’s ok, Hartsfield is now Hartsfield-Jackson.

It changed right before I moved up. And I had no idea Regan used to be called national.
