I am being Stared At by Zilli, who is sitting atop my computer monitor in a very upright and regal way and looking down his bumpy nose at me. :)
Not much exciting to say this morning. Got up later than I should have, but it’s the 15th of June, which means my writing slacking time is well and truly over, so despite having gotten up late, I’m going to have to sit down and do some writing today. No CoH for ME.
Is there anyone in the whole world who doesn’t have lousy posture when sitting at the computer? How do you manage it, if so? I’m trying to work on my posture and I’m really tired of the hunch-shouldered computer user stance. Or sit, I suppose.
I almost had a bookstore accident last night, but I got away practically scot-free. 3 books does not a bookstore accident make. Then I made cookies and we watched 2 more episodes of Alias and we *still* don’t know what’s going on, except something awful happened to somebody and now somebody else has got nothing left to lose, so that’s going to be bad. V. bad.
I need to pay bills today.
Things I did yesterday that were good for me: walked 2 miles, at 1 froots, um. Guess that was it. Things I’ll do today that are good for me: walk 2 miles, eat 1-2 froots, gym.
miles to Lothlorien: 35
(Ah. Zilli was Staring At Me because he wanted the milk in my cereal bowl. Now he’s got it. Wretched kitty.)
At the computer at work, I mostly recline in my cool chair. Which means I have lousy posture. Or I sit on the edge of my chair, which means I have pretty good posture. At home I slouched until I broke the chair back, so now I sit up straight because I have to. Which may be why I hardly ever log in from home.
If you do a search on google for “knee chair posture”, you can find a bunch of links for something called a “knee chair”. http://www.sitincomfort.com/kneechairs.html
They’re far more comfortable than they appear, almost “force” you into good posture, and are comfortable even if you have bad knees. (I have very bad knees.) I loved mine and used until my sister broke it. I think next time I’ll get a metal one.
I’ve used knee chairs, and don’t find that they make me have any better posture at all. Although (she said, looking at the link) I haven’t used one as new-fangled as those ones. :) I wonder if they’d be more effective than the ones I’ve used. hm.
Thanks!
Oh, I also forgot about those exercise balls! They give you a work out while sitting, because you have to make micro-corrections to stay on. Also, the “balance” nature of them encourages good posture :) (And they’re pretty cheap.)
Do you mean to imply that, as one works at one’s computer, one’s head is not supposed to slowly come down to the level of one’s desktop?
The mind boggles.
*LAUGH* Yes, I think that’s exactly the case, mony. :) :) :)
