We’re doing American Thanksgiving today and although it’s not on my list of usual suspects, I thought I’d try making a pecan pie. Except I have real issues with most pecan pie, which is generally Far Too Sweet (and I have a massive sweet tooth, so if I’m complaining about something being too sweet it’s weird) and doesn’t taste much of pecans. Okay. I had loads of questions about the “Let Them Eat Cake” recipes, especially the gluten free stuff, so I’m doing a round-up on them. Gluten free, vegan carrot cake recipe with ‘cream cheese’ frosting. Contains flax ‘eggs’, which I’d never previously encountered and am now quite enamoured with as a substitution. Shamrokon was a lovely, fun, totally exhausted weekend. Not so much exhaust*ing* as exhaust*ed*; for some of the attendees it was the 3rd con weekend in a row, and for lots of them it was the 2nd. kickstarter: doin’ it wrong
It’s become clear to me I’m doing this Kickstarter thing wrong. For example, take this guy, who is running a Kickstarter to make potato salad. From a modest $10 goal, he has now reached over $7500. For my next Kickstarter, I will be making fudge. The challenges will be that I will get fancy chocolate molds and put the fudge into those instead of just a glass pan and cutting it up.
