I had no idea so many people felt so strongly about oranges! :) The other day somebody asked me, somewhere, how I knew how long a book would be. I rambled on about it on Magical Words today, so perhaps that’ll be of some interest to people. Only yesterday I was proclaiming proudly to Ted that I’d been out of the house almost every single day of the year, except two or three back in January. However, I have not been out today, and it’s pissing down rain, so I…

movies & metrics
Ted and I went to see “Street Kings” today, which was not only a surprisingly good movie, but Keanu Reeves was surprisingly good *in* it. There were only a couple of “whoa” or “dude” kinds of moments, and one of them was very nearly on purpose, I think. I’d say that was hands down the best Reeves movie I’ve ever seen, and hell, I /like/ him. (Generally I think he’s actually a hell of a physical actor, which is why he did so well in the Matrix movies: they didn’t…
sooooooo envious
Approximately half the known world, or at least half my known world, will be in New York this weekend for Comic Con, and I am *so* envious. I was exhausted before I did anything, and then the cats sat on me when I sat down to write, and they emitted sleep rays, and I succumbed. Ted got up before I’d entirely fallen asleep,…
what excellent friends :)
Myles, who have evidently been taking sneak lessons on The Care & Feeding Of A Kit, arrived (in the form of Myles) on the doorstep this morning bearing a bottle of wine (in congratulations for a million published words) and a bar of 72% dark chocolate (to help get me through the Novelist’s Event Horizon). This, combined with an especially nice comment from fantasy novelist Michelle Sagara, has cheered me quite a lot. Also, Ted took me out of the house and we wandered around in the sunshine for a…
quick note before bed
Ellen Million, who rocks, has scanned a couple of short stories I wrote in college and sent me copies of them, ’cause one, at least, I’m sure I don’t have. That one is a Beauty and the Beast story which, to the best of my own recollection, is a huge rip-off of Robin McKinley’s BEAUTY, except, like, written my way. :) So I’ll be reading both of those stories with fascinated trepidation sometime here soon… Realised this evening that the smart thing to do was take the synopsis for Chance…
