wfc

I have just bought plane tickets to Austin, so it appears I am indeed going to WFC. Gotta arrange a hotel room and, y’know, buy the con membership, but the get-Catie-to-Texas aspect has been taken care of. Ted, most unhappily, couldn’t get the week off, so I’ll be going stag.

Never been to Texas. Don’t know if I’ll like it.

But now, the important question for the ages: is is possible to get Henry Weinhardt’s root beer in Austin? This is of Critical Importance, I tell you!

Also of critical importance is finishing TQB and revising CD by Halloween. That, dare I say, is *more* critical than whether I can get a root beer fix while in Austin, and so I had better get my arse into the office and get to work.

Austin is a great city to go to. I visited there when I spent two weeks in Texas (technically visiting my in-laws for those two weeks). Although it is a bad choice to know what Texas is like, because Austin isn’t like any other area in Texas.

I don’t know whether the Henry Weinhard’s root beer is available though.

You can buy my membership off me, if that’s possible?…
I’ve been meaning to sell it on cause i can’t go (Can’t seem to make it anywhere this year :( )

We’ll be in Austin that weekend for a wedding. Actually, we’ll be getting there earlier to help out and stuff.

It’d be cool to see you–though I understand that you’ll be busy–particularly since we didn’t manage to meet up in Ireland last time.

I haven’t yet made one single plan, so aside from the banquet dinner Saturday night, I see no reason why I should not meet up with you! That would rock! :) Email me, and I promise I shall *answer*!

Henry’s is a Pacific Northwest brewery – I think it’s located near Portland. I don’t think it’s very well distributed outside of our region, alas. They make the best Orange Cream Soda ever. Mmm.

Next year, you’ll just have to come to a Portland or Seattle con. :-)

Fantastic! I’m trying to sell my first SF novel right now! Have you an agent? Any tips? I can e-mail you my number if it would be easier to just chat!

Any help you can render would be awesome!

…actually, yes, on the way back I’ve got a … an almost 3-hour layover. Not enough time to get out and go anywhere, but if you wanted to meet up at the airport…?

I cannot recall a time past my childhood (we used to visit my grandparents in TX for Xmas) when I have actively wanted to go to Texas, but now I do. o.O I hope you have a marvelous time, wish I could join you!

I do have an agent, and I honestly have no useful tips except persistence. Write good books and be persistent in trying to sell them. That’s really what it takes.

    Yay!

Where’s a good place to email you? (You can let me know at username at livejournal dot com; that would be where I would assume I should email you, but I’m not sure.)

I’ll send you my phone info and such.

Okay, I’m only now realizing how close WFC is, and that I’m woefully unprepared.

If you’d like, drop me an email at patriciabray AT sff.net and we can try to figure out a time we can meet up.

…but we’re on the road and I figured I’d reply to your LJ while I had some free wireless. If you can let me know if you have a mobile I can send SMS to and if so what the number is we can more easily touch base about Thursday. (If you didn’t get the email with my cell number, please let me know and I’ll try again.)

Like I said, sorry to nudge but my net is spotty while on the road, so I figured I’d grab the chance while I had it…
