yoga & writing

There’s a (free) yoga fundamentals class tonight at 7pm. I have it on my list of thinks to do. The question: will I actually nerve myself up to go?

*at least goes so far as to look the location up on the map* Oh, jeez. I can’t even use “I’m not sure where it is” as an excuse, as it’s pretty much a straight shot from here. Well, one half-block jog to the left, but straight on til morning after that. I should probably go. I don’t know why going and doing things is alarming (except probably I just don’t do it enough).

If I go, dinner will not happen until afteward, so I suppose I should find something to eat now, because I’m already hungry. Raisin bran, here we come.

5500 words today; not quite as prodigious as yesterday, but still pretty satisfying. I’m 1500 words shy of 60K (and 2 pages shy of 250 pages), but I am taking the wiser path and called the day done at 5pm (well, 5:15) after a full day of writing. Those will be nice milestones for tomorrow, instead.

  1. I still don’t see how you crank out so much writing an a day. It boggles my mind.

  2. I’d recommend not eating a heavy meal before yoga. Some of the positions can be uncomfortable on a full stomach.

  3. Well, when I’m doing it like this, quite literally *how* I do it is to get up, go straight to the computer, write for 45-60 minutes, take a 15 minute break for breakfast, go back and write for another 45-60 minutes (I have a specific wordcount goal I expect myself to reach in that time period), break for a quick shower, write, break for a snack, write, take a half hour for lunch (an hour loses too much momentum; also, this is the first and only time during the writing day that I’m allowed to turn on my internet-access computer and check LJ and email and stuff), write, etc, until I’ve reached whatever point I think I can be allowed to stop at for the day or it becomes my Time To Leave The House time, which is around 2pm. I often get a 90 minute or so break in there, but I try to be back at the computer by 3:30 or 4, and then write until 5 or 6, depending on how much I’ve accomplished and how close I am to a major goal.

It’s actually pretty unusual for me to have stopped 2 pages shy of 250, or 1500 words short of 60K, because I often feel like once I’ve reached those goals in the morning that hey, I should be done for the day!

…*eyes the other computer* I wonder if I should go write that much, in fact, just to cover my ass.

  4. Wow. That’s a lot of writing. No wonder I never get anything finished. I have serious trouble staying still, though.

  5. Oooh…your icon sparkles…*mesmerized*

I didn’t eat too much! Just some raisin brain, and it was over an hour before the class. :)
