FANTASY MEDLEY give-away!

I feel as though I should not need to eat for a week. I swear, the human digestive system ought to work that way. Cold-blooded animals have a certain amount going for them. I suspect, however, that I’ll be hungry within a couple of hours…

Thank you all for the birthday wishes. I feel very birthdayed. :) And I have a new pedometer and movies and a new bread-baking tin, which makes for quite satisfying birthday loot, if you ask me. :)

The final tally for my two auction items was $375, not enough for me to write a new Walker Papers or Old Races short story, but *more* than enough to prompt a FANTASY MEDLEY give-away. I’ve got one last ARC (advanced reader’s copy, as opposed to the finished version) I can send to someone, so this is your chance.

THE CONTEST: tell me (in no more than 50 words) what Old Races story you would like to see told. It doesn’t have to be something that comes organically from the books; you can just randomly want “a story about the djinn” or something.

THE CAVEAT: I may make off with one or more idea and turn it into a story at some point. :)

THE WARNING: I expect there will be spoilers for the Negotiator trilogy in this thread. If you don’t want to be spoiled, stay out of the comments.

THE WINNER: will be the person whose story idea I like best!

(eta because I am a dork) THE DEADLINE: I’ll give you a whole week. The contest will end on June 9th. :)

THE OTHER CONTEST: Ok, this isn’t mine at all. My agent, the incomparable Jennifer Jackson, who started agenting at the tender age of nine, is celebrating her 16th year of being an agent by running a contest for ARCs and books written by her clients all this week. Go read her instructions carefully and participate! :)

  1. I would love to read the backstory of three characters:
Sarah Hopkins – how did this human manage to play Janx and Daisani and live to putter in her flowerbeds?
Grace O’Malley – the teases about her past…is she a witch? fairy? fallen angel?
Chelsea Huo – the girl can take a licking and keep on ticking…sort of like Margrit. Her history with Daisani would be interesting.

  2. How about a story with a Gargoyle? He’s trying to break the curse of turning to stone during the day but to do so has to get someone to willingly accept and take that curse from him. And who would take such a curse except someone who loves you?

  3. In the misty annals of time, a race of demi-gods strode with gigantic might throughout the plain of Adam – these were the ‘Annunaki’, the sons of God. Little is written and less is known about these mysterious Lords of the Earth who departed with the promise to someday RETURN!

  4. I would love to see more of Tony and Grace, but I’m vaguely hoping for a full-length for that… *hint, hint* :-) But really, I must know more about what the heck Grace is. Other than an enigma that is… -_-
