The astute amongst you have noticed (I know, because you’ve mentioned it) that I rather abruptly stopped blogging about the book a while ago. The *particularly* astute amongst you may have noticed that I said I’d talk about it more when it was less depressing. It’s not especially less depressing now, but at least I’ve found my way. I think. I hope. There’ve been a variety of difficulties in writing this thing. One that was comparatively easy to recognize was that I’d introduced a character who made things too easy…

hot. sweaty.
Well, I’ve determined to my satisfaction that it’s not that I’m in swell condition beneath the blubber, it’s that the dance teacher isn’t working us very hard (and when I say “us” I mean “me” :)). I went to the gym with my ballet and tap shoes, and had myself red-faced and sweating inside of ten minutes, so…yeah. :) Yesterday, after hanging out with and son for a while, Ted and I stopped at The Corn House (I think) on Cornmarket for lunch. It clearly thinks it’s Quite Hep, but…
Author Action Figure!
Mint in box! Life size! One of a kind! Comes with her own “Captain’s Chair” keyboard prop! Costume includes “Night Shade Books” T-shirt and realistic “growing-out roots” in the favored RogueTM hairstyle. (Office set sold separately, terms and conditions may apply.) We (and when I say “we” I mostly mean “Ted”) got the futon put together for the library, and…

I don’t. :) I mean, I’m breaking a sweat in class and all, but I’m not turning red or having sweat fly off me in big fat drops, which is what I’d expect from a class that really worked me. I admitted that this was not nearly as vigorous a class as I’m used to, and the woman said I must exercise a lot.…
drum circle
I asked the yoga teacher yesterday if she knew if there were any drum circles or anything in Cork that I could look up. She did, but she looked very surprised that I asked. I don’t think I look like the sort of person who would ask about a drum circle. Actually, I’m quite sure I don’t. Sometimes this is a matter of consternation to me. I feel as though I ought to look more unconventional. Unfortunately, I can’t get past feeling either silly or aware that most of the…
