revision report

Four chapters in, and I’ve cut about 3500 words, I think, and added … well. Current wordcount is only 1000 words shy of what the original wordcount is, so if I’ve cut that much, I’ve added another 2500. (I hate trying to figure out wordcounts for revisions.) Thus far it’s been about small edits that tighten things up, and changing a handful of minor yet significant details which will cumulatively change the feel and direction of the entire book. Wow.

Wow. I just got the most incredible fan mail from a woman who read COYOTE last night. The idea of everyone having an inner garden really resonated with her, and she sat down and had a think about what her own might be like, and wrote this beautiful, evocative description and sent it to me, and I’m just … *wow*. *Wow*. One of the cool things about being a writer is that sometimes people send me books to read. :) Sometimes these are not published books, like Gail Dayton’s ETERNAL ROSE, and sometimes they are published books, like ‘s SEA OF SORROWS, which I could not find a copy of and which she proposed sending me as part of a hostage exchange: SEA for COYOTE. *laughs*! I had all sorts of writing things to talk about, but then pointed me at this comic and now I am all giggly and have nothing meaningful to say. Go Turtles. :) We went out to lunch with and today, which was entirely splendid. We met their new baby, ate a lot, had amusing discussions about the awful things women say and about crashing MMORPG servers, and generally had a very nice time.
