Man, yesterday was a lot more frantic than I expected it to be. Writing was interrupted (after, thank goodness, I’d reached my minimum quota) by the arrival! of! Books! Yay! Books! Also, five minutes later, Justin Gustainis‘ BLACK MAGIC WOMAN (which has a cover dismayingly similar to HOUSE OF CARDS, actually) arrived for me to read for possible blurbage, and I had to set it aside because otherwise there would be doom (it looks awfully good. It looks like an idea I wish I’d thought of.). Eventually I staggered out…
natter natter natter SQUEE!
Is it just me, or does nothing happen when you go plug numbers into the Zokutou word counter these days? Last year a World Wildlife Fund event called Earth Hour got Sydney, Australia to turn out many, if not all, of its lights for an hour at 8pm on March 31st, to “to deliver a message about the need for action on global warming.” This year, Earth Hour is going global on March 29, and invites everybody to turn off the lights for an hour at 8pm local time around…
for pity’s sake
We went and got a new case for Ted’s computer, as that appeared to be the best way to resolve the power button issue. He went up to work on it, sliced his hand open, and the power supply failed. I think the universe is telling us to stay away from computers for a while. *sigh* My desktop (the one via Myles & Sammy) is up and functional on a new surge protector and a much less-loaded socket in general, so we’ve got one desktop and one laptop online, which…
*mutter*
It’s flipping freezing in this house this morning, which I had extra time to appreciate because for some reason I woke up around a quarter to seven and at 5 after determined I really probably wasn’t going back to sleep, so I might as well get up. Sigh. Anyway, as far as I can tell the pressure’s gone off on the boiler again, and I’m not actually sure how to fix it, so I’m waiting for Ted to get up (which I hear him doing now) to turn the damned…
Computers
We are not having especially good luck with computers in this house. I don’t want to turn my new one on until I’ve got a heavy-duty surge protector, which I keep forgetting to buy, and today the power button on Ted’s computer, which had been broken before, ceased to work entirely. The piece can be replaced, but whether we can find a replacement remains to be seen. *headdesk* I keep forgetting to mention that I actually *have* been practicing my tin whistle! It sounds more like music if I cheat…
