quiet day

Quiet day. I re-read The Blue Sword and The Hero and the Crown. I still adore both of those books unconditionally. *Man*. I don’t know how many times I’ve read them, but I could read them a hundred more times and still love them. It’d be good to write books like that. :)

  1. I also adore both of those…..Definitely good reads. I can’t count how many times I have also re-read those….Especially the Blue Sword….

  2. *stares at Laura* No, I’m not hoarding books, it just never occurred to me that you might not have read them!

Read anything by Robin McKinley. There’s not a lot. And if you ask me, read them in the order they were published, which is: Beauty (A Retelling of the Story of Beauty and the Beast), The Blue Sword, The Hero and the Crown, Outlaws of Sherwood, Deerskin, Rose Daughter, and Spindle’s End.

I did that from memory. Fear me.

Some of those you’ll find in the YA section, some in the sf section. Possibly you’ll find all of them in the sf section, actually, and some in YA, but anyway. Um, she also has some books of short stories. _The Knot in the Grain and Other Stories_ (which I haven’t read), and _The Door in the Hedge_; _Water: Tales of Elemental Spirits_, which is a collaboration of short stories with her husband, and _Imaginary Lands_, which is a series of short stories which she edited and which Amazon’s reviews say is pretty bad except her Damar story in it which means I’m going to have to pick it up…

  3. I’ve read “Rose Daughter,” but none of the others. Guess B&N is going to get some more of my money. If you see any of ’em at Title Wave, let me know. I’ll be sending you a box of books to exchange for credit next Tuesday (which is the first time in the last month that my schedule and the post office’s open hours actually work together). Yay! good books I haven’t read 10 times already!
