thinks I’ve done
Today involved a lot of walking back and forth, digging in the dirt, and knitting. We have now got All The Plants (raspberries tayberries black currants cherry tree rhubarb sage rosemary thyme strawberries), and they are All Planted. Now we shall see if we get any FROOTS and BERRIES from them.
We had dinner at Mom & Dad’s, and then while Ted and Dad watched a match on tv, Mom taught me to knit. I am apparently not entirely bad at it. I did 11 rows on a simple knit scarf and while my stitches are inevitably a little too tight, it’s at least not bullet-proof. I’ll do more tomorrow. :)
I also seem to have lost my pedometer. I’ve walked through my backwards mind and can only come up with one place where it might’ve fallen off, so I’ll stop by the shop tomorrow and see if they’ve found it. If not, I hope there’s someplace in Longford that sells them, as I’ve become rather neurotically attached to the darned thing.

things I have learned
Things I have learned from the Intarwebs today:
– it is possible to grow raspberries in a container
– it is not possible to grow raspberries in a container
– it is possible to grow raspberries in a container, but only if it is a shallow container
– it is possible to grow raspberries in a container, but only if it is a deep container
– the problem is not so much growing raspberries as stopping them from growing
– unless they’ve got rot, in which case the problem is getting them to growNow, as a control, or perhaps sheer orneriness, I have planted one set of raspberries in a deepish container and one in a shallow container. We shall See What Happens. There are also tayberries and black currants planted in the shallower container, and tomorrow after I get more dirt I’ll plant more, as well as planting the cherry tree and buying strawberries to plant. And! Ted has gotten fresh herbs to start growing, which *quiver* om nom nom. I’m very pleased with all of this, because I come from a land where food does not grow on trees. :)
It seems, though, that all I’ve done today is plant-related. My other things haven’t gotten done yet, somehow. Oh well, there’s always tomorrow!

froots!
Got TRUTHSEEKER turned in fairly early this afternoon, so I went out of the house and had a mad shopping spree wherein I bought:
1 cherry tree
2 planters
3 raspberry/tayberry/black currant bushes (each)
a large bag of compost, and
1 starter kit for knitting a sparkly silver scarfThat last bit is Mom’s fault. I love the sweaters she made me so much it has made me decide maybe I want to give knitting a try after all. If I like it, I’ll have a scarf! If I don’t…maybe Mom will make me a scarf. :) So tomorrow I will read a manuscript and swim and do the charity auction thing and plant some trees. That sounds like a nice day, doesn’t it? And maybe I’ll try knitting a bit, too.
…the cats will *love* that.
