a very fine weekend

It was a very fine weekend, despite getting off to a rather inauspicious start. We drove up to Fairbanks on Thursday morning without incident (thank goodness!) and spent Thursday afternoon and all of Friday hanging out with Ted’s mom. We went to Lilo & Stitch again (Beverly hadn’t seen it), and rented Training Day (very good) and Ocean’s Eleven (pretty entertaining) and basically had a very nice relaxing time. rather disgusting puppy adventures

I have to tell you all the Rather Disgusting Puppy Adventures. We were going to Fairbanks for the weekend of the 4th. We packed everything, including Chantico, up into the car. Stopped at Title Wave to look for some audio books. Successfully obtained books after about twenty minutes. We drove to the opposite side of town, where Chanti decided she needed to poop. catchup and other stuff

Chantico is on probation from her kennel, and gets to stay in the kitchen when she’s not being actively watched by a person. So far it’s working fairly well, unless there are things close enough to the edge of the counter for her to get them down. She ate an envelope yesterday. But I’m using a kiddie gate to keep her in, and despite her small-puppyhood enthusiasm for climbing over those gates, she’s hanging out in there without much fuss. Gooooood puppy. We’re working on ‘lie down’ as a concept.…

back pain

Have I mentioned lately how remarkable it is to live without back pain? After almost a month of being pain-free, I’m still amazed by it on a regular basis. No pain is goooooood. (Maybe, Mary Anne, this is what they meant by ‘average’ pain. Perhaps they were talking about something chronic, in which case there are indeed days of average pain.)
