unexpectedly wonderful day

Ted, who is really an incredibly wonderful husband, got up at 6am and drove to Shannon this morning to collect me. I had no expectation of this at all, and am inexpressably happy that he did so. It made a very, very long day much, much better. …oh, to hell with it. I’m a disgusting smelly sweaty thing, and I can’t think, so I’m going to go take a very long shower, finish reading EMPIRE OF IVORY, read the Marvel CIVIL WAR graphic novel I just picked up, make some…

and it’s betsy for the win!

Just got back from the city, where the only shopping I did was to buy another bag to put all the books my editors gave me in. Harlequin loaded me up, but I gotta say it’s Betsy Mitchell for the win with an advance copy of Naomi Novik’s EMPIRE OF IVORY, fourth book in her Temeraire series. Bwahaha. Strange things I have been noticing about America: – Everybody sounds pretty much like me (although here, they all say “harrible” instead of “horrible”) – The shops, which are called stores, don’t close at 6pm. – There are lots and lots of tan people. – They drive on the other side of the road. I am *so* confused! There were other things, too, but that’s all I can remember right now. :)

and i’m off! (heh heh)

Okay. I think I have everything I need. I have a passport, a flight schedule, and a toothbrush, and although none of those items is a towel, they’re still probably the absolute basics of what I need to get to Pi-Con. I have a number of other things, too, but those are the ones that seem critical. :) I’ve got no idea whether I’ll be blogging from the con or not, so there may be Vast And Terrible Silence from me for *counts on fingers* four whole days. Be brave.…
